After all, it's been the conventional wisdom that affiliate should choose to promote products with high Gravity.
Well, fair enough. But let's first look at what Clickbank Gravity really is anyway.
Gravity is an indicator that says how many affiliates have made a commission off a product. It doesn't say how many transactions were made. It doesn't say anything about the conversion. And it doesn't say where those affiliate got their traffics from.
It’s no denying that Gravity, as an indicator, has its merit. For example, some publishers consistent roll out high quality products that are well worth the affiliate's attention. Their reputation attracts tons of affiliate to hop on their product launches. Gravities shoot up, reach 100 and beyond. High Gravity always attracts even more affiliates. As a result, fierce competition begets.
Affiliate pays homage to high Gravity. Savvy publishers know it. That’s why some Clickbank publishers are very serious about JV. It hypes their products. And it jerks Gravity up. Hyped products get Gravity up to 100+ quickly. But undeserving products get high refund rate and untested pitch pages produce poor sales conversion. Soon, these negative factors erode the vainglory of the initial hypes. Gravity declines, sometimes slowly. (As you might have known, Clickbank honors 60-days unconditional refund policy.)

It's easy to encourage fellow affiliates to promote Low Gravity products when Mr. Blackwell himself doesn't have to risk his own time and money to promote them, isn't it?
Well, we applaud Mr Blackwell for breaking the silence anyway. He's done enough to enlighten us of the extra edge we can all use.
As you come to realize the advantage of Low Gravity, wouldn't you agree that it'd be absolutely amazing if you can take advantage of the high reward while virtually eliminating all the risk?

Let's examine why.
Low Gravity means low competition; highly trafficked pitch page rules out the possibility that low Gravity being low due to unpopular or inferior product; and high Referral % rules out the possibility of highly trafficked pitch page being the result of the publisher's own promotional effort.
I know. It's a mouthful.
Try read more carefully if you didn't grasp the meaning. You'll see how simple the logic unfold itself.
Then you may ask, if that's so simple, why couldn't anyone find these so-called hidden gems?
Truth be told. It's not easy. Period. It requires enormous amount of labor work to visit different data sources to glean all the info required and to filter the true winners.
It's not like no one has tried as there's nothing new under the sun.
CB-Analytics.com, a fairly popular site that comes before CBEngine, tried to tackle this exact problem by introducing 3rd party statistics, such as Compete and SEMRush, to Clickbank's product statistics. But sadly, these 3rd party data are no longer up-to-date. CB-Analytics team seems to have stopped maintaining their website, at least the 3rd party data.
